Despite a lull in the summer weather with wind and cooler temperatures, Ford & Stanley charity golf day on Friday 30th June went down a storm, and all involved got to soak up a thoroughly enjoyable event.
Together with joint host TÜV, we put on a scintillating competition at Morley Hayes, Ilkeston as around 50 guests from across the whole rail industry navigated way their way around 18 challenging holes. An array of prizes were won as well as an impressive £1,075 raised for Children First Derby, a local charity working with vulnerable children, young people, and families, to make a positive impact in their lives and the local community.
And to help them get ‘in the zone’, players got to flex their mental muscle, thanks to sports performance training from Andy Duncan of Genius Coaching.
A round of breakfast baps and coffee kick-started the day, before the participants got down to some serious business on the undulating fairways and greens. Individuals and teams were awarded for their fine play in various competitions, with the winners being announced during the post-event buffet. The First Placed Individual prize went to Scott Moss from TUV, and the lowest scoring team were Team 2, consisting of Nick Sinclair from Wabtec, Andy Houghton of WH Davis, Adam Todd of PRS and Ford & Stanley’s very own Dan Taylor. Respective runners up prizes went to Wabtec’s double winner Nick Sinclair and Team 7, featuring Ebert Coetzer from Hitachi who joined Nick Sarosi and Scott Moss, both from TUV. Ben Craze of Infinitive Group took the accolade for Longest Drive while TUV’s Scott Moss (TUV) celebrated triple glory this year by also winning Nearest the Pin.
The bogey prize was claimed by Dan Saxton from TUV, although it was later discovered this was a joint achievement with Raj Basi of NTS and NEOM’s Lee Chester! Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to all involved in making the day a resounding success while raising much-needed funds for a great cause.
In the meantime, we look forward to seeing everyone next year to re-unite for what promises to be another epic game of golf and a spectacular charity fundraiser.
